Role at UYWI:
I have the great privilege of putting the training puzzle together for our national conference each May. This consists of finding new trainers, who can bring the very best presentations to inspire our attendees to greater things in God’s Kingdom. I also oversee UYWI SoCal, which is working to build coalitions around Southern California to support the people who work with youth. If you want to better understand it… take me to lunch.
Education:
I graduated from Biola University in 1996 with a BA in Business Administration with a Marketing Emphasis. I than attended Talbot and received a Masters of Arts in Christian Education. Oh, I almost forgot… I am 1992 graduate of La Habra High School!
How did you get here?
I had a non profit Marketing class that I needed to write a Marketing Plan for a real non profit. I was introduced to Larry through a friend Eric Marsh. Larry bought me tacos! Now, that was back in 1995 and I am still here. I have done everything from tutor, day camps, camps, train, raise money and act like I know something about computers.
What's cool about your job?
The amazing people I meet who train for us or who work daily in the trenches around Southern California. The team at UYWI is also amazing. We learn so much from each other and make work so enjoyable. And I wish you could wear sandals to work!
Most Unusual Job:
It would have to be delivery phone books to raise money for my basketball shoes in high school.
About Me:
I would say I love to coach my kids sports teams and that is what I spend most of my time doing, If not with them I will be hangin out with my friends that I have been friends with since before high school. In regards to what I like…. here we go: USC Football, Dodger Baseball, NFL Fantasy Football, Red Cloud, My Back Porch, Alhambra House Church, Facebook, Tiny Phillies, and any team playing Boston Teams!!!!
What tip would you give for getting the most out of UYWI events?
Do not burn yourself out! You may feel like you need to attend everything, but you don’t. You need to look at everything we are offering for the event and determine what meets your needs most. You should not only go to program electives, but make sure you attend something for your soul! You need to make sure you leave more energized and not more burned out or frustrated!
