PROGRAMS:

RELOAD training events, held in cities throughout the US, teach core skills, build inner life, and connect people. There are two types of RELOAD event:  The traditional RELOAD format is a one-day conference with a breadth of topics for your whole ministry team.  The new RELOAD Lab format is a more intimate, focused training on a specific topic.

360 Conference is our 3-day Conference Coming Fall 2012, focused on the best practices in youth ministry.

90° Certification Program is a 12-month intensive leadership development program designed to support youth workers in creating “right angles” for impacting their ministry and community.

The Well is an online premium resource membership program designed to provide members with training materials, training curriculum, interactive webinars with some of the top leaders in urban ministry, and discounts on UYWI training events.

OUR STORY:

UYWI began in 1993 when a youth worker named Larry Acosta saw that thousands of inner-city youth in Los Angeles were lost to the streets every year because of a leadership void in youth ministry. In establishing UYWI, he sought to fill a gap for training, leadership development, resources, and networking opportunities that would keep urban youth leaders in ministry longer and increase their effectiveness in reaching and discipling urban youth.

Since then, UYWI has developed a National training conference, that attracts top urban youth workers from across the country; launched the RELOAD Training Tour, a series of one-day events in major cities across the US; identified a number of high capacity emerging leaders who crave more intensive training and mentoring through certification; and created a unique online resource called “The Well”.

Having trained more than 22,000 leaders in the last six years, we are considered the “go-to” organization for developing urban youth workers in many of the most troubled inner city areas of America.
