It doesn’t just include black and Latino teens. I am at a church in a neighborhood that is inner city, with majority white, appalachain families. The statistics are very similar. Either way, it definitely bothers me… and leaves me wishing I could do more.

Very true Josh! The “urban culture” is not limited to two races. While on a national level Blacks and Latinos have the highest statistics in these areas, other races are affected as well. I believe that impact starts with an intentional effort to reach a small group of these teens at a time. We may not be able to see a drastic statistical change now. As Jesus reached the world through 12, I think positive influences overtime will bring forth a new reality for these teens overall.

Hello Jeff, Thanks for your question. The staff member who wrote this article in 2012 is no longer on staff with us, so I’m not sure where she sourced her information. In the article she linked to a page on tastyfaith.com for more information, but it appears that TastyFaith has redesigned their website since the writing of this article, so that link is no longer accurate. I’m very sorry that I could not be of more help to you.
