My husband and I are both leaders of the youth group in our community and it is our passion. We have worked with teens in our city for years and we are hungry to learn more, and better equip ourselves to pour into the lives of our young people. We live in the city of Chicago, our home, our church, and our kids are located in The Humboldt park/Hermosa neighborhood. Gang violence and murders are rising daily and our hearts are heavy for the youth of our city. I believe this conference will give us great tools and resources to come back more knowledgeable and ready to get out on the streets to reach our youth. OUR CITY NEEDS A FATHER!

I’m desperate for revival. my church my youth and worship team have a amazing potential but something is missing I believe God wants to use me to revive the group and this event can be the tool God uses to begin the transformation in me, in the church and in the city.

It would be such a honor and privilege to attend this event. I am a member of Free City Church in North Long Beach California. I am a part of the worship team and also a Sunday school teacher, teaching ages 8-15. I believe I would gain much wisdom and knowledge by attending this event, not only for myself but for the children that I teach. If I were to attend this event it would make a significant amount of impact for the youth in my city. Free City Church is in a part of Long Beach that desperately needs to know the love of our Savior and I believe I will make an impact for the youth in my community by attending this event.

I am a youth leader in my church and ive seen how, not only the church i attend but the city as well, needs a revival. And im sure God wants to use me and wants me to be part of it. I had a vision some days ago were this two girls from the group and me were leading the kids and teenagers from our church and Jesus through us brought rivival to the church. My church is in need of this and this event will be like one of the tools God will use to bring me more wisdom and understanding of what needs to be done.

I am currently a college student but have felt God leading me to full time ministry and absolutely love urban youth. As a result of being a student, I have been surrounded by incredible leaders and would love to win this not for myself but for another young woman who is currently involved in youth ministry. The opportunity to attend and experience 360 would be life changing and equip her with greater tools, inspiration and encouragement as she seeks to serve the Lord. I can only imagine that having the 360 experience would enable her to lead, develop and nurture urban youth and also be refreshed as she meets others involved in ministry.

I serve as the Youth, College, and Young Adult Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. Ebenezer is located in downtown Atlanta and in this urban context we have gentrification on one side and poverty on the other. This means one to has to be creative in serving the demographics the church is situated in as well as the members who commute daily to the church. If selected, 360 LA will help me connect with other youth pastors and workers to share ideas about how they engage in ministry in their contexts as well as acquiring more tools and professional development to better serve Ebenezer and the greater Atlanta metro area.

My husband and myself have been called to a position to help with youth in the city of Pomona. I completely agree with the statement “the city needs the Father”having remembered what it’s like to be fatherless. We would be blessed to attend, to gather and glean any information that would help us reach youth for the Lord. That they would know and love their Heavenly Father is our hearts desire!

Hello, I am a Youth Pastor from Washington, DC area and I used to faithfully attend the youth workers training that you all did yearly in our area. Like other youth workers, my car and home is always filled with youth. I have been in youth ministry since the age of 19 and now I am 36 years old and can’t imagine working in another ministry. I really want to take our youth ministry to another level and I believe that this conference will help me do that. Our church is located in an urban neighborhood and I have had teens come to my youth bible class off the street looking for a way out. I believe this conference will help me push my team/ministry that God has entrusted to me to another level Spiritually, financially, and in all areas. I curently am mentoring 3-4 young men who never completed high school but are now working on their GED. I would take the skills learned from the fatherless classes, mentorship, and discipleship as well as all of them to strengthening mentorship to start community tutoring classes, to help a generation that are missing fathers in the home. My father was not in the home, so i know what their going through andthe Holy Spirit as my guide will definitely be an even greater asset to our church youth, community and possibly schools.

    1. Why do you deserve to win one of these free registrations?
Well, my work in ministry has been as an Army Chaplain for the last 5 1/2 years. I’ve bought a chunk or UYWI CD’s that have assisted me in shaping my ministry to the young men and women in military ministry. Many of the Soldiers I ministered to were young people coming from Urban areas, single parent homes, and troubled youth. Many of these young people entered the military to escape the violence and poverty of their communities. The first step in introducing the Gospel to them it was necessary to address the issues that have affected and shaped their world. So UYWI instructional CD’s considerably helped me to understand them, connect and build relationships with them.
    2. If you were to come and experience 360, how would it help you to impact the youth in your community?
Now that I have separated from the Active Duty military life, I’d like to go to the UYWI Conference in order to gain fresh “eyes” on the trends and current issues, approaches, and methods for doing Youth Ministry. I’d like to start or join an Urban Youth Ministry in the OC area where I can continue to do ministry to young people. Networking and learning about the ministries already doing the work of God will help me make informed decision of how to be a part of Urban Ministry.

I need to win these tickets because, otherwise I could not afford it. I would use the information Iearn to help me improve the way I minister to students. I believe you should never stop learning and working on ways to connect with people. The Gospel can be shared in so many ways it is impossible to know what will work until you’ve tried it.

  11. Carolina Zaragoza 04/22/2014 at 12:43 pm #

I deserve to win because I am eager to go and learn more on how to help the youth in their walk with Christ. I can not afford it and I would love to receive this blessing so I can bless others.
I would impact the community by providing the tools learned in the workshops and providing a new perspective in life. everything I learn in this event will allow me to grow a bond with the youth in my community and help me provide an efficient ministry. pick me!!!! I want to bless others with this great opportunity

  12. Albert Navarro 04/22/2014 at 2:37 pm #

    1) To be completely honest, I’m not sure I truly “deserve” to “win” two tickets. I really believe everyone deserves to win those tickets. Knowing that, that can’t happen, I’ll explain why I am interested in going to the conference: As a 19 year old college student at Cal Baptist who’s directed a Campus life club (Youth Ministry) on a Jr. High Campus (Urban setting), serving as a youth leader, and going to become a counselor for Hume lake Christian camp, I want to learn more about working, engaging with youth, and just as the slogan for the conference is; showing the love of the father to these youth and strategically doing that.

    2) Being involved in youth ministry for a year, I feel that this conference would be an opportunity to learn a lot more and open my eyes to what I’m not seeing in these youth. It would advance my understanding for youth, their culture and with that, a process of applying what I learn after the conference, since it doesn’t end there. It would be the beginning and a start of something new in me as a youth worker. Being an impact already on some of these youth, I think the tools that I have will be sharpened, as well as new tools being handed to me to work with these youth. All in all, through the Holy Spirit, I want to fulfill God’s mission of making disciples and raising up a new generation of Christ followers in this urban setting as they go through this life. Helping them build a relationship with Christ, and see that the real father to turn to is Jesus Christ. I really believe that attending this conference will help me develop these understandings and put them into action strategically.

Thanks for reading and giving us the opportunity to attend!

  13. Grace Weng 04/22/2014 at 3:26 pm #

What an exciting opportunity! I am the youth director of a church in South Los Angeles. We currently have a few junior staff on our team who are youth from our neighborhood who grew up in our youth group. They are now students at local community colleges and this year they have stepped into leadership in our youth group. It would be a great blessing to win tickets for one of them to attend, which would help offset the cost to send them to the conference. We hope to bring them to help expand their vision for their leadership and spiritual discipleship and to give them further training as they serve!

  14. Andre Anderson 04/22/2014 at 5:12 pm #

I would like to learn the best practices in youth ministry and connect with like-minded leaders who share my calling and understand the challenges in leading and empowering youths. My wife and I would love to inspire and equip youths as we start to embark on our own business in aiding and assisting youths in our neighborhoods. By this one of a kind urban leadership development experience, this would help us launch our God given inspiration to bring the gospel that would not only engage but instill the laws of the word that can be written on their hearts and carried with them throughout their youths years to help them in their decision making and spiritual growth. Here in San Diego, we do not have this type of revival, conference or events that we can take advantage.

We recognize that youths an kids’ lives are hanging in the balance. We agree that their are far too many youth dying in the streets, being raised fatherless, dropping out of school, human trafficking and making destructive life altering decisions at a early age. You are right, that today’s urban youth face many challenges and desperately need Jesus, and WE want to bring it to them. Equip us, so we can equip them in the spiritual training in building disciples in our young.

  15. Doug Goulding 04/22/2014 at 8:28 pm #

I’m deserving of these tickets by making myself available to be equipped for the front lines of our spiritual battle in Tustin and neighboring cities. Our population continues to add people with “inner city” backgrounds in recent years, and I’m not sure we are equipped to handle it. I can feel a near revival in Tustin and Santa Ana with young Hispanics by the masses giving their lives to Jesus Christ soon. The Lord called me to pull people out of the pit that I used to pull them into, and I am need of some practical and spiritual training. I know how to point people to Christ which is what matters most, but there are many youth that need additional support and guidance. I want to do more.

My wife has been called along side with me to serve God. We are both willing and waiting for the Lord to give us our next move. We’d plan on using 360 experiences to help us reach our youth at our local church, in our community, as well as incarcerated youth in Orange County. Being a Christian rapper myself, I am expecting an inner city youth fan base to deal with as well. I’m praying the Lord will guide me on how to prepare for this. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much of an example myself growing up, so I only know how to live productively as an adult. Most of my youth was spent incarcerated so I’m relying on God to show me how to lead these youth to be productive.

Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

God called me to serve as a missionary youth pastor with World Impact in Newark, NJ about 10 years ago. Even though I’m 61 years old I believe that you are never too old to impact the world for Christ. I’ve made some ministry mistakes over the last few years and I need to make some needed corrections and a new direction for our teen bible clubs. I believe that 360LA will help me gain a new focus and give me training ideas for the next generation of youth workers here in Newark.

  17. Greg Washington 04/24/2014 at 11:32 am #

My name is Gregory Washington, I am the youth Programming Director and Youth Pastor for City of Refuge the Mission Church here in Atlanta Georgia. I deserve to win this free registration because; I believe God has new manna at the 360 Conference that I am ready to receive. Working in inner-city ministry is something that I and my wife are passionate about. We are learning that ministry from a finical perceptive is rich in God’s grace that gives us the ability to accomplish the extraordinary. This is why I believe we should win the free registrations and our community will be blessed because we had the opportunity to attend. Shortly after attending this conference the information will be implemented into our 10 weeks of summer camp this year

  18. Shar Walker 04/24/2014 at 6:26 pm #

I would love to be able to say all the work that I am currently doing for the youth in our community – currently I have been on a long sabbatical – going on 3 years now after working fervently for youth for six years – I was convinced that stepping down and allowing my younger counterparts to take over was the right thing to do because I am older now and supposedly out of touch (56). Yet, it is still nagging at me and I still have so much to offer besides wisdom…I simply want the tickets to reignite the fire that is already smoldering within…I like to think that “God is not through with me yet”

  19. Jessica Fielding 04/25/2014 at 10:43 am #

    1. Why do you deserve to win one of these free registrations?

I graduated college two years ago, I work full-time, and I volunteer as the Youth Pastor at my church in South Sacramento. I started the position as a volunteer six months ago with about 5-6 youth attending weekly. Last week we had 32 young people at our service. My team and I are dedicated to discipling these youth and leading them to the Father. Over 90% of the youth that attend our service do not have a Father and are from the neighborhood. Many of my weeknights are dedicated to empowering these young people and showing them God’s love. I deserve to go, because I desire tools to better reach young people and lead them to Jesus!

    2. If you were to come and experience 360, how would it help you to impact the youth in your community?
If I were to come and experience 360 I would be better equipped to impact the youth in my community. I attended UYWI in 2006 as a student leader with my youth pastor. The training has forever impacted my life and has fueled my passion for working with youth. I have learned tools on how to work with them as a student leader, but I need tools on how to lead my entire youth group (volunteers included). I know the tools and skills taught at 360 will help me reach more youth and connect them to the Father.

“Deserve” is a strong word-reading previous posts in response to this I can’t see how I necessarily deserve it more or less than others. I don’t envy your decision making on this one. That said, this is who I ma and what I do. I grew up in the neighborhood and spent most of my life in juvenile detention, group homes and programs. At 19 I was convicted of Att Murder and sent to prison for nearly 10 yrs. Towards the end of that sentence (I’m a slow learner sometimes) I came to know Christ in the Pelican Bay SHU, where I did the last half of my time and paroled from in 2005. I’ve been serving in urban ministry in the Bay Area since a few years after paroling and been blessed to do so in a variety of capacities-often with people from East Palo Alto who are no stranger to UYWI. I’m often called to come and provide, which I enjoy greatly and am humbled by, but would love to go get fed while networking with other trenchmen/trenchwomen. It’s been a rough season and think the time at 360 would be invigorating. That’s all 🙂

I am a youth leader in Bakersfield, CA. This is my second year working with the high school aged youth. As a believer and as a leader I understand my need to grow and learn. I cannot give what I don’t have. I NEED and SHOULD be the first one getting trained, praying, fasting, doing what I can to be the example because I am, whether I like it or not. Youth are just looking for someone to follow. I want to make sure that when they follow me, they are following Him. I don’t have the money for a conference like this, but I need the training. There are so many things I don’t know and so many issues that you are addressing that I’m facing and I don’t know how to handle. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many resources out there. I need help. Everyone responding to this give-away needs help and I couldn’t tell you why my needs are more urgent than theirs. I just know that anyone who has taken the time to even look into this event is looking for ways to better minister to the youth. I’m one more of them. We’re losing our youth to drugs, alcohol, relationships, entertainment, etc. I feel the burden. Please, help us learn how to reach them.

  22. Elizabeth Alamo 04/30/2014 at 9:13 am #

Blessings! My husband and I are the youth leaders at our church I know how much UYWI events have benefit us and the youth we have taken in the past. We use everything we learn at the conference. This year financially it has been very hard for us to attend to this conference for various reasons. Our mentality has always been to bless others and these tickets would allow us to take these group of leaders that have stood up to the challenge to work with our church and community. They are so eager and hungry to learn, and it saddens me to think that we might miss out on this opportunity.

  23. Adrian Greer 05/01/2014 at 4:44 pm #

Over 8 months ago, I stepped down from my paid position as a Program Director of 6 years at an academically focused after-school program that I loved. What’s foolish is, I did this in response to God’s voice in my soul calling me to “create that which I wished existed.” After what had already been a challenging year for me, personally, this was one of the most frightening decisions I’ve ever made, and yet it wasn’t hard to make it. I knew that there were amazing organizations in place to care for the minds and education of my city’s youth, but knew that God was calling me in a different direction. “Whom shall I send?” I felt God asking, “Who will care for their hearts and souls?” “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” I responded.

In August 2013, I founded, and have been working full-time at, MYTHIRDPLACE, which is a Christian nonprofit after-school program that provides mentorship and discipleship opportunities to Azusa teens. ( facebook.com/my3place ) As I have shared this vision that God placed on my heart, there have been a number of kingdom-minded church fellowships and amazing individuals who have stepped up to the challenge of making this thing a reality. They have enabled us to faithfully serve a great group of youth at a church facility in Azusa everyday after school for the past 8 months. The fruit from this time has been inspiring and amazingly humbling.

Earlier this year, Christian Mulitauopele, a recent APU grad that has interned with me, and that I have mentored, for the past 2 years, also felt the foolish call of Christ to deny self, love God, and love others. He, too, quit his job and has been working full-time on the front lines with our youth, recruiting and leading our volunteers, and developing our program. It has been an incredible sight to see God use him directly within the giftings that God gave him.

While we are gearing up to begin a couple fundraising campaigns for MYTHIRDPLACE, to this day, neither of us full-time “employees” have received a paycheck. The most foolish thing about all of this is, never in my life have I made as little money as I have made over these past several months, and yet never in my life have I experienced God’s presence, provision, peace, joy, nor personal fulfillment in the ways that I have throughout this season.

If we were awarded these two tickets, we would be given the opportunity to glean from some of the greatest hearts and minds in Youth Ministry and be able to immediately put those gleanings into practice. It would strengthen our ability to disciple youth directly within the fatherless, urban context of our mission field. It would allow us to connect with other youth workers and organizations in hopes of collaborating and truly working as The Church to bring about God’s Kingdom that is already, but not yet.

I’ll leave you with this, back in 2010, I attended The UYWI Conference at PazNaz, and was able to hear Lecrae give one of the keynote talks. It was during this talk that I was first introduced to the “Third Place” concept that MYTHIRDPLACE derives from. When I consider all that God has brought about in the 4 years since, I cannot help but recognize how MYTHIRDPLACE is, in large part, fruit from the faithful ministry of UYWI. I can only imagine how God would use this year’s conference for the next 4 years and beyond to continue to impact youth through this organization.

Thank you for this opportunity, for your time, and for your consideration of our application.
    Grace and Peace.

  24. Selena Mendoza 05/02/2014 at 11:35 am #

We deserve to win because, I truly and sincerely want these tickets, about four years ago I came to a small church and God meet me there I had been away from him for a long time, and struggled with the reality that he would want to use a person like me. I also had no idea id be helping out with youth and girls only groups ,I have never understood why God has placed me were he has its not something that I have ever wanted to do in fact I am coming to each class by faith. I have often wrestled with the Lord about were he has placed me there are times when I feel inadequate and Pray for God to send someone who knows what there doing. Iv been wanting to reach out to our youth in our community of south El. Monte but don’t know were to start I believe that just like in the book of acts God wants to make sure we are prepared for what he is about to do. I believe that God has a massive plan for the youth in our community and winning these tickets would help I would like to return to God what he has given to me, to be able to be there for a young person struggling with life. I saw my younger brother go through his teen years and know one knew how to help him I also feel like I just barely made it through my youth it was pretty rough if it hadn’t been for a hand full of people that were there for me speaking life into me, giving me hope I don’t know were I would be today, God has sent me so many conformations that he strategically placed each and every person in my path to lead me to the place were I am today and I now see it as an opportunity to help others like my brother and myself to be there for them while they experience the Lord working in there lives to show them what God is doing in my life, and that God has so much planed and waiting for them. I have no idea what I am doing but I trust that God dose I recently attended a Biola turn your campus, at the time I was very seriously thinking what am I doing here when I took a class that was filled with amazing people God placed me there and answered the questions I had been asking all my doubts, and fears were wiped away I came out knowing that I was going to take advantage of the resource’s that were provided to us in that room, no one told me about this class I hadn’t herd or don’t remember hearing about Urban Youth Workers at the time I never heard the name Larry Acosta or personally told him what I was going through yet there he was specking boldly about the things I had been struggling with people in the class were asking the same questions I had ,but was to embarrassed to ask, they struggled with the same things I had struggle with. I had given all my concerns to the Lord and he used these stranger who I never meet to assure me that I was were I was supposed to be I believe that Urban Youth Workers was designed for people like me who need support while we go into our community and give people hope by introducing them to Jesus .

I thank you for the opportunity to win these tickets God bless Urban Youth Workers

I would love to participate in the #360LA! I deserve to win one of these free registrations because I serve youth in 7 cities across the US. My work as a leader of Urban Missions gives me the opportunity to sow into the lives of both urban youth and the suburban youth who come to the city to serve. It looks like the training provided at the conference would create opportunities for me to be better equipped to serve the hundreds of students God entrusts to me each summer.

If I were to come and experience 360, it help me impact the youth in Los Angeles where I live but also in St. Louis, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, Kansas City, Twin Cities and Detroit. Not only will it help me but I will be leading four interns. Your training will have an exponential impact on various communities and leaders.
Investing in me would broadened your reach to students and leaders who may otherwise not be aware of your work. If I had the budget available I’d pay for this! Thanks for your consideration and look forward to receiving my tickets!
