25 Years of Impact

In 1993, Larry Acosta had a dream to help ethnic leaders working in the hardest places in our country be resourced, trained, and developed. This was the birth of Urban Youth Workers Institute. Larry’s bold leap to move out of a great church ministry role into trailblazing the leading urban youth ministry in the country has been a source of hope for thousands of urban leaders who, in turn, have reached hundreds of thousands of urban youth with the gospel.

This fall, we are starting our “25 YEARS OF IMPACT” campaign to remember and celebrate the impact that UYWI has made, as well as look forward to the impact that is to come. There are thousands of stories and this fall we will be sharing just a fraction of those to display how God has used UYWI to reach the least, last, and lost in our cities across the country.

We could not have done any of this without God using YOU to support this work, to stand in the gap for urban youth and to co-labor to see the Kingdom in the inner city.

THANK YOU for your role in that. As we share these stories, we hope that you own the impact you are reading about. You were and are vital to this movement to see the gospel reach these unreached youth.

Over the next 4 months, we will also be sharing our process of how we power urban youth workers to be high capacity, high impact leaders. We know that it’s through Christ-centered, bold, intentional, and healthy leadership that transformation is possible in the inner city. We can’t do that and we don’t want to do that without YOU. So stick with us as we connect, learn, grow, lead, and launch urban leaders to better reach urban youth.
