Women in the Bible – Celebrating Women’s History Month!

Eve

The very first woman created was named Eve, meaning life or living. In Genesis 2 we see that she was created as a suitable companion for Adam. Unlike many misconceptions, woman was not created inferior nor superior to men, rather to walk side by side.

The commentator Matthew Henry says:

“This companion was taken from his side to signify that she was to be dear unto him as his own flesh. Not from his head, lest she should rule over him; nor from his feet, lest he should tyrannize over her; but from his side, to denote that species of equality which is to subsist in the marriage state.”

Since Eve, several women left significant legacies, so much as to be recognized in the bible as noble, righteous, prophets, leaders, etc. We encourage each of you to spend each week of this month studying a woman in the bible. To help jumpstart this challenge, we have found an awesome resource that shares the lives, significant stories, and impact of each woman in the bible. Click here to check it out!
